Pakistan Greyhound Welfare Association is not-for-profit organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860, in the year of 2020. Pakistan Greyhound Welfare Association came into exitance with the broader consensus of all the concerned so as to organize national level greyhound racing events, keeping in view the safety and health of competing greyhounds.

In Pakistan Greyhound racing is a hobby, not pursued as a profession, and the sport has gained importance at the national level due to import of highly-bred track and coursing Greyhounds, that not only improved the standard of Greyhound racing in Pakistan but also raised the level of interest of the people in the sport. The Association primarily focuses on major races, derbies as they are called, from boxes, and ensures that races are organized with permissions of local authorities so as to ensure wellbeing of competing greyhounds.

In Pakistan Greyhound Welfare issues are different than those being faced in UK, Ireland, Australia and US etc. In Pakistan Greyhound is a rare breed of dogs, the number of persons willing to keep greyhound are more than the available greyhounds. The issue in Pakistan is the lack of knowledge, regarding greyhound rearing, feeding and other ancillary issues, those are being dealt by Pakistan Greyhound Welfare Association, with the help of leading veterinarian of Pakistan, the veterinarian of Agriculture University Faisalabad have been leading from the front in educating greyhound enthusiasts about the health of their greyhound companion.

The Association started by educating people regarding vaccination, feeding and breeding of greyhounds as per prevalent international best practices.

Pakistan Greyhound Welfare Association is at nascent stage of its operation but it has been able to improve upon multifarious issues, pertaining to Greyhound Welfare. Still a long way to go for the Association but it is a step in the right direction. Sincerity of intent is surely going to bear fruits with committed efforts, INSHA ALLAH.
